Wiesner Bros. Nursery hosts business professionals for Chamber's Member Meetup

When the weather starts to get warmer, it signals the perfect time to head outdoors surrounded by lush landscape to mix and mingle with friends.

That was the exact scenario for the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce’s latest Member Meetup as Wiesner Bros. Nursery hosted business professionals on the grounds of their eight-acre site. Attendees took advantage of the ideal conditions to swap stories and share insight as blooming flowers provided festive vibes.

“We’ve been on Staten Island for 91 years, and some new Chamber members may not be aware that we’re here. We thought what better for us to meet them and get to know them than hosting this event,” said Hans Wiesner.

One of the advantages of hosting a Member Meetup is allowing members the opportunity to showcase their location and highlight their offerings. That wasn’t hard to do at the latest event as attendees conversed with new and familiar connections surrounded by picturesque greenery as far as the eye could see.

“Since I was a kid, I’ve heard the same reaction from people: ‘Oh my Goodness, I never knew this place was this big,” said Wiesner. “It’s still the same reaction, and that’s great because people feel like they’re stepping back in time and they’re back in old Staten Island.”

Members of the Wiesner family work at the expansive nursery and many were on hand to give tours or answer any horticultural inquiries. Ultimately, though, the event provided a wonderful venue for guests to gear up for the summer.

“The whole theme was a summer garden party, and we were blessed with some really nice weather,” said Wiesner. “We’re really happy that we had the opportunity to host. Like I said, we’ve been on Staten Island for 91 years, and we now have the fourth generation involved with the business. This was a great time for us to introduce ourselves to a lot of people that we normally wouldn’t have met otherwise.”
