Chamber's Sixth Annual High School Golf Invitational another hole in one

McKee/Staten Island Tech’s Colin Elias and St. Joseph Hill Academy’s Ava Graziano were the top finishers at the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce’s Sixth Annual High School Golf Invitational at LaTourette GC.

Elias carded a two-over to win first place as the freshman parred four of his final five holes to finish with a 74. Meanwhile, Graziano improved by three strokes from last year’s third-place performance for an 87 to propel the junior to a first-place, two-stroke win.

The stellar play of the duo also helped their squads as MSIT won the boys’ team trophy and SJH won the girls’ team trophy.

This competition is the only one of its kind on Staten Island, where golfers from private, public, and Catholic high schools can play and compete against one another. This year’s 18-hole Invitational attracted 32 golfers from 10 different Staten Island high schools. This year’s event was sponsored by the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Committee members who volunteered during the event included: Mike Bloomfield (Tekie Geek), Christopher M. Lee (Port Authority of New York & New Jersey), Rich Nichilo (Hand in Hand Real Estate), and Frank Scarangello (SCARAN).
