Staten Island Chamber Celebrates 2022 Gala at the Moulin Rouge

On Saturday, May 21, Staten Islanders were greeted to a slice of Paris at the Chamber’s 2022 Moulin Rouge Gala.

The event, hosted at Above and presented by Atlantic Salt and the College of Staten Island, attracted more than 150 members of Staten Island’s small business community. The event’s “Moulin Rouge" theme was celebrated to great effect: performers greeted guests and presented champagne upon entry, feathers adorned tables and centerpieces, and dancers can-canned their way through the crowd.

“The Chamber isn’t just me, it isn’t [Chamber President & CEO] Linda Baran,” said Frank Scarangello, Chairman of the Board of the Staten Island Chamber. “It’s all of you, and all of the businesses that are part of the Chamber. Tonight is a night to forget about the last two years, the last year, the last month. Tonight is a night to celebrate.”

Following a cocktail hour sponsored by the College of Staten Island Tech Incubator, guests were treated to music and entertainment by Partners in Sound Productions, a performance by dancers from Mrs. Rosemary’s Dance Studio, and even a song sung by Michael Assenza, Chairmain of the Chamber’s Foundation Board.

The event was also sponsored by Signature Sponsors Amazon, Empire State Bank, National Grid, and Northfield Bank, as well as Partner Sponsors 1199 SEIU Employment Center, Angiuli & Gentile LLP, John Calabrese Financial, the Joe Tirone Team of Compass, Rampulla Associates Architects LLP, Sherwin Williams, and Tekie Geek.

This year’s event committee was co-chaired by Maria Carrozza (Cake Chef Companies) and Dan Ryan (Staten Island Advance). The committee was comprised of Aprillynne Cruz (Sunrise of New Dorp- Sunrise Senior Living), Renee DeMatteo (Partners In Sound Productions), Pamela DeRose (John Calabrese Financial), Steven Desteoglu (Sherwin Williams Paint Store), Massimo DiDonna (Partners In Sound Productions), James Doyle (AGL Visuals), Carley Graham Garcia (Amazon NYC), Dr. Janet Leslie (Gift of Experience, LLC), Jordan Minchew (The Nicotra Group), Vera Naughton (Europadesign), Jeanne Sarno (Empire State Bank), Jennifer Sammartino (Staten Island Community Television), Chuck Sommers (GroundForce Logistics), David Sorkin (DH Sorkin Consultation Group), and Diana Varvaro (Paul Mitchell the School NYC).
