Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, Borough President, and SIEDC Announce Continuation of VETS Program

By Dominic Provenzano, Marketing & Communications Manager

On March 20, 2023, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, Borough President Vito Fossella, the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC), and members of the small business and veterans communities gathered at Rab’s Country Lanes to announce the continuation of the VETS Discount Program.

The VETS Program, created in 2010 by the Chamber and then-Assemblyman Michael Cusick, offers discounts for veterans at dozens of small businesses on Staten Island. More details on how to get started will be announced shortly.

“One thing that every Staten Islander has in common is that we cherish our Veterans,” said Borough President Fossella. “I am proud to partner with these two great organizations to provide a free service to those that have served our country.”

“Given the rising costs associated with inflation, this program is needed now more than ever,” said Linda Baran, President and CEO of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce. “This is the Staten Island business community’s way of saying thank you, today and every day.”

“The goal of this program is the same as it was when we started it 13 years ago.” said Michael Cusick, now the President & CEO of the SIEDC. “We must take care of our veterans, and I’m thrilled to continue the program.”

To participate in the program, veterans must first apply for a VETS Discount Card with Borough Hall. Once verified, participants will remain in the program in perpetuity and continually receive an annual card. Businesses that wish to participate simply need to contact the Chamber and provide their listed discount.

Details about participating businesses, discounts, and contact information will be available in the coming weeks.
