Quattrocchi Twins Honored for Dependable Service to Customers and Community

By Danielle Wiseman, Staten Island Chamber of Commerce

Joseph and Paul Quattrocchi, identical twins and co-owners of Dependable Auto Body, are leaders in Staten Island’s automobile repair industry.

The brothers are Staten Islanders to the core. Born and raised in Staten Island, the twins graduated from Susan E. Wagner high school and both went on to take night classes at the College of Staten Island, where they discovered their interest in business. However their true passion, and what they do best, is working with cars.

Dependable Auto Body first opened at 79 Rector Street in 1978 when Joseph and Paul’s father, John, decided to start his own small business. Previously a successful automobile damage appraiser, John recognized his expert knowledge of vehicles as an opportunity to create a high-quality, multi-generational auto body shop on the north shore of Staten Island alongside his sons.

“It was really my father’s idea to open Dependable Auto Body,” reminisces Paul. “My father was already in the auto business in the appraisal department, and once Joseph and I graduated high school we started working in different auto body shops across the Island. It just made sense to open our own place, so we did.”

“We opened Dependable Auto Body together, me, my brother Joseph, my brother John, and my father,” says Paul. “The four of us all ran the shop until my father passed away in 2012 and John passed away in 2016. Now it’s just me and Joseph.”

John Quattrocchi Sr.’s vision was to provide Staten Islanders with friendly, professional, and efficient auto body care, especially in the face of an accident. John Sr. instilled this sentiment in his sons, giving them a strong foundation for the future of the shop. Joseph and Paul currently co-own Dependable Auto Body, and they pride themselves on making the process that follows a car accident as worry-free for the client as possible. From maintenance repair to dealing with insurance companies, Joseph and Paul are there for their customers every step of the way.

"We serve all of Staten Island, but we have a customer base all the way to New Jersey,” remarks Paul. “We have customers who have been coming to Dependable for over forty years. The north shore is our home, and we love being here. We treat our customers like family, and we’re here to help them through the unexpected.”

Since Dependable Auto Body’s inception in 1978, the shop has grown to become one of the most popular and reliable automobile repair establishments across the island. As a result of its rapid growth, Dependable Auto Body moved down the block to 110 Rector Street, where clients come in morning until night looking for the help of the shop’s expert technicians, led by the talented Quattrocchi brothers.

"It’s extremely busy the entire day, we’re dealing with customers all day long. It’s sometimes nonstop for me and Joseph,” adds Paul. “The business is soaring, and now we’ve started to bring our children into it. Two of my boys and one of Joseph’s daughters work in the shop now. We really like to keep it in the family.”

John Sr. would undoubtedly be proud of his sons for continuing to build the legacy that he created so many years ago. Family was everything to John Sr., and he passed that value down to his sons. When they’re not at Dependable Auto Body, Joseph and Paul can be found spending their free time with their families. Joseph adores his wife, Anita, his three daughters, Gina, Nicole, and Alexa, and his granddaughter, Valentina. Similarly, Paul idolizes his wife, Danielle, and his three sons, Paul, Danny, and Dominic.

For their accomplishments, Joseph and Paul Quattrocchi are being honored with a Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Award, which they will receive in the Master Businessperson category. The awards, which are presented by the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce and the Staten Island Advance, honor the memory of Louis R. Miller, a businessman and West Brighton resident who was also a community leader.

In addition to the tireless hours that the Quattrocchi brothers devote to the community through Dependable Auto Body, they are also active members of various community organizations. Joseph is a member and former President of the Gateway Rotary and a recipient of the Paul Harris award, a Board member of the Grace Foundation, and a former Board member of Project Homefront. Paul is a member of the North Central Kiwanis Club of Staten Island, and he is on the Board of Directors for the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation and Michael’s Cause. Dependable Auto Body has also been a member of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce for over thirty years.

Joseph and Paul are also tremendous philanthropic supporters of numerous borough-focused organizations, such as Meals on Wheels, the Grace Foundation, and Michael’s Cause. The Quattrocchi brothers live by the community that they serve, and they know how important it is to give back to that community.

“For the last thirty or so years, we’ve sponsored St. Teresa’s baseball and basketball leagues,” says Paul. “We also sponsor a lot of other sports and teams across the island because our kids were always involved, and we know it’s the right thing to do.”

The Quattrocchi twins are ardent supporters of Staten Island’s youth, and in addition to providing generous donations to youth organizations throughout the borough, they have also consistently offered internships to and mentored young individuals interested in the automobile industry. Joseph and Paul are strong community role models, both for their families and those that they teach, and they hope to pass their wisdom on to future generations.

Current occupations: Owners of Dependable Auto Body

Hometown: Castleton Corners

Community involvement: Joe is a board member and Vice Chair of the Executive Committee for the Grace Foundation of New York, former President and recipient of the Paul Harris award for the Gateway Rotary. Paul is a board member of the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and on the Board of Ambassadors for Michael’s Cause. Both Joe and Paul are St. Teresa sports program sponsors and financial supporters of St. Philip’s Church, Project Homefront, John Dilgen, Michael’s Cause, and Locks of Love.

The best part of my job: When people are in accidents, they are often beside themselves and don’t know what to do when it comes to getting their car repaired correctly and communicating with their insurance company. Helping turn the process from difficult and stressful to seamless and worry-free is something that makes us proud.

The most difficult part of my job: Working through the pandemic and being an essential worker, our industry saw many parts delays which in turn delayed our production. To this day, the industry is still seeing major delays in manufacturer production of collision repair parts, and our customers are being left without cars for months without answers.

I am most proud of: Joe is most proud of his daughters, Gina, Nicole, and Alexa and his granddaughter, Valentina. Paul is most proud of his wife, Danielle, his three sons, Paul, Danny, and Dominic, and his three grandsons, Paul, Nico, and Giovanni. Our family is very close and traditional, we gather every Sunday to have dinner together and even vacation together once a year.

The quality I like best about myself: Persistence & determination. I don't give up easily, and "cannot" is rarely used in my vocabulary.

Personal interests and hobbies: Joe loves going to the gym, Sunday dinners with family, relaxing by the pool, and watching football with his sons-in-law Chuck and Dom. Paul enjoys going to car shows, working out at the gym, and spending time with friends and family.

I laugh at: A good TV series, I’m always looking for something new to watch at the end of a long day.

I am really good at: Figuring out difficult tasks, performing under pressure.

I admire: A person with strength and perseverance to overcome any difficulties.

Some important thing/s I would like you to know about me: Family means the world to me. Everything I do is for them.
