Just B Boutique Wins Chamber Holiday Window Contest

This holiday season, Just B got an “A.”

In November and December 2021, the Staten Island Chamber hosted its first-ever Holiday Window Decorating Contest. The winner of the contest, which drew more than a dozen applicants across Staten Island, was Just B Boutique, a women’s boutique located at 1574 Richmond Road.

Just B Boutique wowed the judges with its expansive display of holiday dresses, Christmas trees, and red and gold accents. The business stood out for its two handmade Christmas dresses, which were adorned with decorated Christmas tree bows.

The decorating contest, organized by the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, was an effort to beautify shopping districts for the holidays. The winner of the contest received a $500 cash prize, alongside a year of membership with the Chamber. The winner was announced last week, with runners up Uniquely Yours and Cutest Cookies in second and third place, respectively.

The applicants were judged by a panel of judges, which included Edward Burke, Deputy Borough President at the Office of Staten Island Borough President James Oddo, Vera Naughton, Art Director of Europadesign, Dom Provenzano, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, and Chuck Sommers, Sales Director, Retail and Construction Division, GroundForce Logistics.

Uniquely Yours, a gift shop on Richmond Road, came in second place.

The applicants were gauged on three categories: theme, execution, and uniqueness. Each of these categories helped the judges examine how well each applicant created cohesive holiday theming, business branding, and execution within their holiday window displays.

Cutest Cookies, a cookie and party favor bakery on Hylan Boulevard, came in third.

On Tuesday, December 28, the Chamber presented Justine Pugliese, owner of Just B Boutique, with her prize. On January 1, 2022, Just B Boutique will become a member of the Chamber for the remainder of the year.

It was a close match between the final three businesses. To congratulate the second and third place winners, the Chamber is granting each business with an ad on Shop Staten Island, the Chambers small business e-commerce platform, for a quarter.
