Several members of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce were on hand as Dave & Buster’s officially opened for business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday morning at its first Staten Island location.
The 40,000-square-foot entertainment venue at the Staten Island Mall should be a welcomed attraction for residents seeking a fun alternative with their friends and family of all ages.
“We’re super excited to open our doors for the Staten Islanders and the neighborhood. There’s really nothing like it,” said Jessica Bocaya, corporate events manager at Dave & Buster’s. “Dave & Buster’s is super unique. You can eat, play, and have a wonderful time.”
The gaming area boasts over 170 colorful arcade machines, a new multi-player Virtual Reality (VR) attraction platform, and traditional favorites like skeeball, basketball, and air hockey. The dining area has tables and booths to sit and enjoy the chef-crafted food, innovative cocktails, and a state-of-the-art D&B Sports Bar with dozens of HDTVs.
“We’re always getting a ton of questions. People are just so excited because it’s such a vibrant and eccentric place to be,” said Bocaya. “It’s really happening here. People come here and they have a great time. And they’re overwhelmed by the beauty of the space. They’re very excited to be a part of it.”
Dave & Buster’s – which employs 200 workers — is the latest opening as part of the Mall’s 242,000-square-foot expansion. Their website is www.daveandbusters.com.
Staten Island Chamber of Commerce members Linda Baran (President and CEO), Michele Esposito (Membership Coordinator), Jean Douchet (Director of Business Development and Partnerships) and Michael Anderson (Content Development Specialist) as well as Deputy Borough President Ed Burke and Jody Guagliardo from the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation were on hand.
During the ribbon-cutting event, Dave & Buster’s presented a $5,000 check to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and announced their sponsorship for the annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, which takes place this year on Sept. 30. They will also hold a pre-race registration Happy Hour in August.
