If you’ve viewed the social media pages of Lois & Richard Nicotra’s COMMONS café, you may have remarked about some of the great posts.
Well, it seems you’re not alone.
By successfully utilizing the different tools on Facebook and Instagram to boost engagement, the Nicotra Team caught the eye of Facebook.
Facebook contacted Kristine Garlisi, Nicotra Group Chief of Staff, about a unique opportunity to attend the Facebook Communities Summit at their Menlo Park, Calif., facility from Feb. 6-9. The purpose of the event is for community leaders to learn from each other and hear announcements from Facebook about the latest tools and programs they’re building to support them.
The competitive selection process lasted three months and involved questionnaires, analysis of engagement on Garlisi’s personal page and the Nicotras’ corporate pages, and a phone interview.
In the end, Facebook selected Garlisi along with Michael Pelczar, Nicotra Group’s Social Media & Content Coordinator, as the only Staten Island group to attend and one of only approximately five groups from all of New York State.
When the duo return, they will partner with the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce to share their experience and knowledge at the “Social Media Workshop for Small Businesses” on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at the COMMONS café.
Participants should submit one social media handle for review before the workshop and bring a smart device connected to your social media accounts.
The event is open to just 15 members of the community and reservations can be made by emailing Pelczar at photo@NicotraOnline.com.
